About the Editors:
Chief Editor: Katharine Barnes
Katharine joined Nature Protocols in January 2006 and leads the editorial team of Nature Protocols. Before joining Nature Protocols Katharine was Editor of Trends in Pharmacological Sciences. A graduate of the University of Durham, UK, she completed her PhD in cancer pharmacology at the Institute of Cancer Research, London. Her postdoctoral research, based in the University of Pittsburgh‘s Department of Pharmacology, was focused on the phosphatase CDC25 and its potential as a target for anti-cancer drug development. Katharine can be contacted by e-mail at k.barnes@nature.com.
Associate Editor: Dorothy Clyde
Dorothy Clyde obtained her PhD from the University of Edinburgh, where she investigated sex-specific gene expression in Drosophila under the guidance of Prof. Mary Bownes. Dot began her post-doctoral career with Prof. Stephen Small at New York University, where she studied pattern formation in the early Drosophila embryo. On her return to the UK, she continued her studies on Drosophila embryonic development, this time focusing on the molecular and cellular events involved in the process of dorsal closure. Dorothy joined Nature Protocols in January 2006. Contact Dorothy at d.clyde@nature.com.
Assistant Editor: Bronwen Dekker
Bronwen Dekker did a masters in Natural Product Chemistry (under Dulcie Mulholland, University of Natal) and worked in the toxicology section of a forensic science laboratory before doing a PhD under Jamal Zweit and Alastair Watson in the Radiochemical Targeting and Imaging group at the Paterson Institute for Cancer Research. After a radiochemistry post-doc in Steve Mather's laboratory at St Bartholomew's hospital, she joined Nature Protocols in February 2006. Contact Bronwen at b.dekker@nature.com.
Assistant Editor: Alessandra Ferrari
Alessandra Ferrari obtained her PhD from the University of Zurich, where she worked on in vivo and in vitro models for Alzheimer's Disease in Jürgen Götz's lab at the Psychiatric University Clinic. She went on to do post-doctoral studies at University College London, in Yukiko Goda's lab, where she worked on synaptic development and competition in mouse hippocampal slices and dissociated cultures. Alex joined Nature Protocols in March 2006. Contact Alex at a.ferrari@nature.com.
Assistant Editor: Andrew McCormick
Originally a graduate of the University of Leicester, Andy did his Ph.D. with Chris Howard and Jayne Hope at the Institute for Animal Health, Berkshire, looking at the interactions of antigen-presenting cells with mycobacteria. Andy moved into scientific publishing in 2005, becoming the Copy Editor for Nature Reviews Cancer. Andy joined Nature Protocols in March 2006. Contact Andy at a.mccormick@nature.com.
Assistant Editor: Baldo Lucchese
Originally a graduate of the University of Palermo in Italy, Baldo got his Chemistry PhD from the Johns Hopkins University, where he worked in Ken Karlin’s lab on bio-inspired multi-copper complexes reactive toward molecular oxygen and halogenated solvents. He went on to do post-doctoral research with Ann Valentine at Yale University on a transferrin metallo-protein from the sea-squirt species Ciona Intestinalis. Baldo joined Nature Protocols in July 2006, where he can be contacted at b.lucchese@nature.com.
Assistant Editor: Hannah Clark
Hannah obtained her MA in Biological Sciences from the University of Oxford (St. Hilda’s College) before undertaking a Ph.D. in Equine Parasitology, investigating the molecular mechanisms of benzimidazole resistance in equine small strongyles. This was completed under the supervision of Dr. Jane Hodgkinson at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, University of Liverpool. Hannah joined Nature Protocols as an Assistant Editor in July 2006 and can be contacted at hannah.clark@nature.com.
Editorial Assistant: Naomi Noonan
